Fortnite, right? Coming to mobile, right? Oo that’s certainly exciting isn’t it? Well if you just can’t wait for Fortnite to arrive on mobile devices, you could always take a look at FortCraft

The NetEase rendition of the modern classic is a surprisingly good game to play on your touchscreen, with plenty of small touches to make the experience easier on the player, but that’s not to say there’s not a few things to get used to…

If you’re dropping onto the island for the first time these tips will help you score high and protect yourself from those dastardly crafters out there…

Dropping into safety

There’s two things you can in FortCraft in order to change the way the game plays out pretty dramatically; you can either drop into often densely populated city hubs, or go with the outskirts and stay relatively safe?

You’ll often get the best results by dropping just outside of the centre of the map and hunting down a small settlement - often two or three detached buildings - and then gathering resources from there and anywhere nearby.

Dropping into a more populated hot zone will definitely get you action fast, but it’s way more dangerous. From one of these safer locations you can make sure you’ll fully armed before you head out.

Weapon ranks

All weapons are not equal in the world of FortCraft. You might find a couple of Uzis or UMP5s or whatever, but the fact is they could be very different weapons indeed when it comes to firepower.

It’s indicated by the glow surrounding the weapon model and the colour of the background of the weapon icon.

The ranks are pretty simple, as the rules for this scenario; always swap you weapons or weapons of a similar type for weapons that have a better colour rank, in this order, from weakest to strongest;

  • Grey - Weakest
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Purple
  • Orange - Strongest

To scope, or not to scope?

There’s a scope option but in reality it’s not quite like the aim-down-sights function you regularly see in other shooters. Here, it’s more of a zoom in, unless you’re using a scoped weapon like a sniper rifle.

And honestly, unless you’re using a sniper rifle, scoping isn’t really necessary. Or necessarily that useful.

Though there is a caveat to this, in that there are gyro controls in the game. Although while walking around gyros can hinder the experience, you can set them to only be active when either close to an enemy or while scoped.

Depending on your precision, this can be a good way to make yourself a way better sniper while playing FortCraft.

Crafting cover

One of the unique aspects about FortCraft (and its clear inspiration, Fortnite) is that you can craft yourself some unique buildings and cover in order to reach new areas or just shelter from gunfire.

There’s a handy auto-craft button too, which will automatically place four walls around you and a ramp in the centre so you can safely aim and run out from the top when you’re ready.

It’s genius, honestly, and it’s recommended that you quickly tap that auto craft button whenever you’re not sure where bullets are coming from.

Before creation comes destruction

But before you can craft yourself some structures, you’ll need the materials to be able to do so. Where can you gather them from you ask? Why, just about anywhere.

In fact, feel free to take your hammer to many of the buildings lying around, you can easily enough break them down into raw materials in order to use them for your own creations.

Wood doesn’t take an inventory slot, so feel free to break down walls often in order to stay stocked on materials.
