SnakeHead Software dropped us a line to tell us about its new dog fighting game, Flying Aces, currently in development for the iPhone.

Judging by the screenies (and the gameplay vid below) this looks like a reasonably accurate flight sim involving taking an F15 Eagle into the Persian Gulf and letting loose with the weapons. The battles will take place between yourself (might I suggest you use the handle 'Goose' while your kite's in the air?) and enemy war planes using what looks to be a pretty slick accelerometer control system.

Of particular note is the mention of playing against other gamers. Exactly how this multiplayer option will work (wi-fi, presumably, but will it be local or remote?) isn't clear at this point, but any kind of group play will undoubtedly be welcome.

Due for submission to Apple around mid-November, strafe the 'Track It!' button now so you don't miss out on any future Flying Aces transmissions.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
