Flight Control lands 1 million downloads on the iPhone

Flight Control has easily proven to be the App Store's sleeper hit of 2009, with its wonderfully simple gameplay gluing iPhone users to their touchscreens and working its way to the number one paid app spot in 20 different countries.

Developer Firemint has just dropped us a line to announce that the one millionth Flight Control download has just landed, thanks in no small part due to the fantastic update that recently added a load of new planes, two new airfields and online leaderboards through Firemint's Cloudcell system.

This means that even after Apple's 30 per cent cut, Flight Control has flown just short of a staggering half a million quid into Firemint's bank account.

"With Flight Control, we showed that we can make an immensely popular ultra-casual title," says Firemint's Alex Peters. "With Real Racing, our team has shown that we can deliver the highest level of technical and graphical excellence in iPhone games."

No argument here. If you're one of the few iPhone users out there who hasn't sampled Firemint's superb tin-pushing game yet, do yourself a favour and hit the 'Buy It!' button below.

Your iPhone will love you for it (your boss won't, though).

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
