There's very little chance of your getting to play slick futuristic racer WipEout on your iPhone.

For one, the franchise is owned by Sony. For another, WipEout developer Studio Liverpool sadly got shut down back in August.

Thankfully, Jujubee's Flashout 3D looks like it will be the next best thing.

It's a gorgeous sci-fi racer for iPhone and iPad, featuring anti-gravity vehicles, deadly weapons, and crazy tracks.

There's a full career mode, with tracks based on real-world locations like New York, Beijing, and Berlin. Online multiplayer is coming in a future update.

It also has an interactive equaliser thingy, which analyses the in-game music to adjust, in real time, the on-track visual effects.

Flashout 3D's got three control layouts; iPhone 5 optimisation; iCloud saves; and Game Center leaderboards and achievements. In the future, it will even boast support for 3D TVs.

It all looks rather lovely, so we can't wait to give this one a go when it hits the App Store at around midnight tonight. It will set you back £1.49 / $1.99.
