| Fish Fist

Fish Fist is, as the name suggests, about punching flying fish in the face, obliterating them into a pixelated red mist.
At its core, it's whack-a-mole adventure but featuring fish instead of rodents. It's also very, very difficult.

It's clear that the challenge has been ramped up to make up for any real level structure. The main goal is to get the highest score you can and collect gold coins, all while punching fish in the face.

Of Fish and Fists

How it works is, you have control over a fist which moves along a horizontal axis. At any moment, you can punch through water and reach into the sky.

Fish Fist

Different types of wriggling fish regularly sail through the sky, and it's your job to strike them down from their magnificent flight.

The fist moves pretty slow - though the speed depends on which of the unlockable fists you choose - so you'll have to time it carefully with the movement of the fish.

This is easier said than done, and can actually prove quite frustrating. The fist's unsteady movement, both vertically and horizontally, along with the unpredictable rate at which fish appear greatly increases the difficulty. And the frustration.

There are six different kinds of fish, including ones that slow you down with poison, and bomb fish, which detonate upon impact. You'll want to dodge these nastier critters while trying to knock out as many of the friendly fish as possible.

Your health bar steadily decreases with time, but any successful punch rewards you with a few more seconds to rack up a higher score. This makes the game very fast-paced, with rounds often ending in a matter of seconds.

Fish Fist 2

You'll want to make the best use of your time punching as many fish as you can to earn gold coins, which accumulate indefinitely until you spend them. This takes the edge off the difficulty, as the coins let you buy new fists.

Each fist has a different ability - one can survive a bomb fish explosion, while others have faster movement speeds. Earning gold for new fists essentially drives the progression in this game, apart from the high score chasing.

Trying to keep your head above water

There isn't a whole lot to Fish Fist, though it is a fun, silly idea. If you're looking for a simplistic, highly difficult arcade puncher, this isn't a bad way to waste time on a commute.

However, unless you're into grinding hundreds of coins to unlock all that's available, I can see the charm wearing off quite quickly.
