Square Enix has revealed to Japanese gaming mag Famitsu that the recently confirmed iOS port of Final Fantasy III will be an enhanced version of the 2007 DS title.

Improvements to the RPG warhorse include the integration of high-resolution graphics, as well as minor touch-ups to the music and sound effects.

The other main difference is the inevitable reliance on touchscreen controls, with a ‘touch anywhere’ analogue stick and taps on enemies used to initiate attacks.

Bagging a Pocket Gamer Bronze Award back in 2007, the DS version is a highly competent RPG, albeit a sidenote alongside the rest of the epic RPG series.

Famitsu gives Final Fantasy III a March release date. No price details have been announced, but it's almost certain to cost as much as, if not more than, the £5.49 / $8.99 / €6.99 Square Enix is currently charging for Final Fantasy II on iOS. Andriasang
