Shift and drift through London streets in Fast & Furious 6: The Game

Only available in Canada... for now

Shift and drift through London streets in Fast & Furious 6: The Game

Kabam's freemium Fast & Furious 6 movie tie-in has just drifted onto the Canadian App Store.

Rather than make another standard mobile racer in the style of Gameloft's previous Fast & Furious efforts, Californian studio Kabam has looked to free-to-play powerhouse CSR Racing for inspiration for this new instalment.

Like CSR Racing, then, Fast & Furious 6: The Game is all about collecting cars and tweaking your rides. When it comes time to burn rubber on the streets of London, you'll be tapping the screen to change gear rather than steering the vehicle itself.

As well as lifting a few ideas from here and there, Kabam does bring something new to the table with Fast & Furious 6: The Game: a drift mechanic.

When your souped-up sports car crosses a blue line, you see, you have to hold the 'drift' button until your car is out of the corner. Successful drifting earns you extra credits, which you can then blow on new spoilers, UV lights, and the like.

If you want to get shifting right this second in Fast & Furious 6: The Game, you're going to need a Canadian iTunes account. If you've got one, you can download the game for free now. If you haven't, well, read this for details on how to obtain one.

As for the rest of us, we can expect to see Fast & Furious 6: The Game on both iOS and Android app stores before the end of May.
