In the blustery dungeon we call 'the real world', football season is already well underway, and the virtual world is about to catch up. Gameloft's Real Football 2011 is scheduled to hit the App Store next week, and so is FIFA 11.

Pocket Gamer's French cousin PG.fr is reporting that the game will be available on September 30th, but EA hasn't confirmed this date, claiming instead that it's due to arrive around about the same time as the console version on October 1st.

We gave last year's FIFA 10 a highly respectable Silver Award, and this year's edition is shaping up nicely. Pocket Gamer's own Will Wilson said in his preview that FIFA 11 is “shaping up to be a serious contender in the rapidly expanding iPhone football league.”

It features a 360 degree movement system, Retina display graphics, a 'tap to switch' control mechanism, and several other gameplay and visual tweaks.

Whatever the date, FIFA 11 is almost certain to arrive next week, so expect a full review then.
