Escape from Montegrande is wacky, weaponised skiing action with exploding horses

It's pretty convenient that you're a "ski master" in Escape from Montegrande.

You see, the only feasible way to escape from Montegrande prison is to ski down the snowy mountain it sits atop.

You've been locked up for life, so you take the chance, hoping to out-ski the cops on the way down and make a break for it.

If you weren't a ski master then I'd imagine the game would be over pretty quick. Luckily, you are, and what ensues is a game of explosive low-poly action.

It's a game that supposedly takes the best of the 1963 film The Great Escape and locates its action onto the fine-looking slopes of David O'Reilly's Mountain.

As such, you start with a slingshot to defend yourself, but can soon upgrade to a shotgun or bazooka.

"If you're a more tree-hugging type," as MEGO puts it, you might want to avoid ballistics and use the watering can to grow trees in your wake for the cops to ski into.

There are other wacky upgrades and power-ups to earn, including dynamite, bomb vests, and "Horse Power", which blows horses up on sight, apparently.

If you're up for a wacky bit of sports-fuelled action, then you can purchase Escape from Montegrande for £1.49 / $1.99 on the App Store [buy].

It's also available to download for free with ad-support on Google Play [download].
