Motiviti's Elroy And The Aliens doesn't just look like a cartoon; it also has the visual gags and slapstick humour of a cartoon.
And if you're anything like I am, that's enough to make you sit up straight and pay attention.
In essence, Elroy And The Aliens is a 2D point-and-tap adventure game designed specifically for touchscreens.
According to Motiviti co-founder Jernej Kocjancic, you play as the titular hero here. Pretty ruddy soon, Elroy learns a secret from the game's co-star Peggie.
As a result of learning this secret, Elroy heads off with his companion on a mission to save the earth from invading aliens.
"The game is a combination of a point-and-click adventure and lots of touch-friendly full screen puzzles," Kocjancic states.
"To add a pinch of action, there are runner game sequences between the puzzle-adventure parts."
Kocjancic has actually gone to the lengths of illustrating the amusing consequences of failing at these side-scrolling runner sequences via a GIF (embedded above).
All that's missing from this smooth GIF animation is audio. Luckily, the game itself will boast a vibrant library of comedic sounds and full voice acting.
Elroy And The Aliens is on schedule to go live on iOS in May. You can find more info about it on the game's official website.
