EE expands its 4G network to 12 more UK towns

Fact #1: EE is the UK's only 4G network (for now).

Fact #2: EE has just added a bunch of new towns and cities to its collection of 4G-enabled areas.

If you want to download the latest 1GB mobile game on the move, 4G is, as our EE network test last year demonstrated, definitely the best option.

Unless you were living in or around a rather big UK city, such as London, Birmingham, or Manchester, mind, you'd have struggled to find any 4G signal up until recently.

As of today, though, EE has significantly increased its 4G coverage.

Residents of Aylesbury, Berkhamsted, Billericay, Blackpool, Brentwood, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Lytham St Annes, Marlow, Pontefract, Thame, and Windsor can all now jump aboard the 4G train.

Citizens of Bradford, Bingley, Doncaster, Dudley, Harpenden, Leicester, Lichfield, Loughborough, Luton, Reading, Shipley, St Albans, and West Bromwich have been able to take advantage of EE's superfast mobile 4G broadband service for a month or so, by the way.

EE's 4G service now covers more than 50 percent of the UK population. This will rise to 70 percent by the end of 2013, and to 98 percent in 2014.

EE will also be upgrading its 4G network to operate at speeds of 100Mbps and higher (download only) over the next year. This is to ensure EE doesn't fall behind once the other UK telcos start rolling out their own respective 4G networks in the second half of 2013.
