Ever since Game Dev Story captured the imagination of the gaming world back in 2010, its Japanese developer Kairosoft has been translating and porting a steady stream of largely similar strategy games to iPhone and Android. Dungeon Village has just become the latest.

Set in feudal Japan, Dungeon Village involves building a hamlet into a bustling urban hub for heroes, adventurers, and warriors.

As these redoubtable figures kill monsters and clear dungeons they bag loot and gold, some of which you can spend on facilities for training more heroes, who can bag you more loot, and so on until your alarm clock goes off and you realise you've forgotten to sleep again.

We gave the Android version of Dungeon Village a Silver Award. You can pick it up from the App Store now for £2.49 / $3.99.
