Third time's a charm

Dungelot: Shattered Lands is our Big Indie Pitch winner at Develop 2015

We're down by the seaside in sunny(ish) Brighton for annual game creator meet-up, Develop. Which seemed like the perfect opportunity to run one of our Big Indie Pitch get togethers.

This is where small developers get four minutes to show off their new games to a panel of journalists, developers, and publishers - all in the hopes of finding great new games to play.

This time, the winner was tinyBuild with its upcoming roguelike threequel, Dungelot: Shattered Lands.

If you haven't played the previous two games (one: what's wrong with you?), these are rapid-fire roguelikes about tapping on floor tiles to find enemies, items, and - hopefully - the key to the next floor.

There's a little bit of Minesweeper in there, as you must carefully consider each tile tap before you make it. And plenty of strategy as you work out the best way and order to defeat enemies.

This one will have boss battles, loads of new content, and an obscene level of polish. And while Dungelot 2 dabbled with free to play (it completely flopped), *Shattered Lands* will be premium. Huzzah.

The game's out on iOS in September. Steam some time after that. The runners up in this Big Indie Pitch were Tap Tournament and and Pixel 8.

For a chance to win thousands of dollars of advertising and to see your game in an article like this one, register now for the Big Indie Pitch at Gamescom and the Very Big Indie Pitch at PGC Helsinki.

Disclosure: Dungelot: Shattered Lands was pitched to us by former Pocket Gamer writer Mike Rose. The 10-person judging panel contained two Steel Media staffers who know Mike.
