Drift'n'Drive might be the Ridiculous Fishing of racing games.

Sure, it doesn't have the angular art style, or the social media-led narrative.

But it does have the ups-and-downs and the gasp-inducing side dodging of Vlambeer's game, plus the descriptions of each upgrade you can buy have the same endearing character.

To race, you tap the sides of the screen to weave up a chicaning track; your car always accelerating.

Mud patches, cones, and abrasive grass are to be avoided, but your competitors might push you into them anyway.

When you win, you get money, and with that you can upgrade the chassis, engine, tyres - improve your entire vehicle by its parts.

Then you race again, and again, and again. You get better, your car improves, and hopefully move towards some kind of godlike status among the racing championships.

Give it a go. You can purchase Drift'n'Drive for £1.49 / $1.99 on the App Store right now.

Oh, and check out AppSpy's hands-on video at the top if you want further impressions.
