The Swedes have tested it, and now it's gone global.

Yes, Draw Something 2, the sequel for which you don't remember asking, is now available on App Stores around the world.

The original Draw Something was a bit of a sensation. Its Pictionary-inspired mechanics managed to capture the imagination of millions of doodle-loving smartphone owners.

This incredible success ultimately led to über-publisher Zynga purchasing Draw Something creator OMGPOP for $180 million last year.

Well, now, the franchise is back. And if we're honest, not a lot has changed.

Win, lose, or draw?

Just like its predecessor, Draw Something 2 is a digital version of 'Guess the Scribble'. One player picks a word from a list, then draws the selected object or idea on his touchscreen.

A friend must then guess the chosen word by interpreting your hastily drawn digital masterpiece.

For the sequel, OMGPOP has tacked on a couple of new features, primarily based around social play.

Once you've finished your drawing, for instance, you can either save it to your album or post it directly on Facebook and Twitter. You can even add an amusing caption.

In Draw Something 2, you're also able to view the galleries of friends or selected celebs, thus enabling you to compare your brush skills with the rest of the community.

If you buy the premium version of Draw Something 2, you'll get an ad-free experience, additional words, and one of the sequel's new Sparkle Pen. This version of the game will cost you £1.99 / $2.99 [buy].

Alternatively, you can pick up a free version [download].

Either way, there are plenty of in-app purchases in the game to keep you spending beyond the initial download.
