Deep Dungeons of Doom due to drop on digital devices directly

Bossa Studios is preparing to release pixel-art roguelike Deep Dungeons of Doom into the iOS and Android wilds.

Inspired by the dungeon crawlers of the 80s, the London-based dev has been working with Brazilian outfit MiniBoss Studios to create a game which "plays like a lost classic from the 8-bit era".

Best known for his work on BAFTA-winning Facebook game Monstermind, Bossa Studios's outspoken co-founder Henrique Olifiers considers Deep Dungeons of Doom "a wolf in sheep's clothing".

Hopefully, he means that the game's simplistic visual style masks its underlying complexity, and not that the game looks great but plays like crap.

Though the team has been a little hazy on the specifics, we do know that Deep Dungeons of Doom will be coming to Android and iOS as a free-to-play title.

We also have some handsome, pixel-packed screenshots for you to gawk at, if you're into that sort of thing. Check out the gallery above.

Deep Dungeons of Doom will arrive on the App Store and Google Play "shortly".

James pivoted to video so hard that he permanently damaged his spine, which now doubles as a Cronenbergian mic stand. If the pictures are moving, he's the one to blame.
