Classic horror Dawn of the Dead coming to iPhone

Classic horror Dawn of the Dead coming to iPhone

If you're half the gore-nographer that I am, news that George Romero's classic undead satire of commercialism, Dawn of the Dead, is coming to iPhone will get you slavering for hot, fresh gaming flesh.

The game follows a similar style to the top-down shooters that have sprayed so many zombie brains around the iPhone lately, such as iDracula, Alive 4-ever, and the forthcoming highly anticipated Guerrilla Bob.

It's actually more closely related to the 2004 remake (not that it really matters in a game adaptation, so long as it's set in a mall) and gives you the option of playing as one of three characters - the nurse, the copper or the salesman - as you fight your way through the zombie infested Crossroads Mall.

You'll have a host of guns and melee weaponry available, including baseball bats, golf clubs, axes, and more as you hack, slash, and shoot your way through the story campaign (taking you through the five levels of the shopping mall) or take on 12 different challenges for the top score.

Developer Byte Mark tells us that the official Dawn of the Dead iPhone game has just been submitted to Apple and is expected to rise from the App Store grave in about a week's time.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
