Taito remake of PSP scrolling shooter Dariusburst: Second Prologue shoots onto iPhone and iPad for £7.49/$10.99

Veteran Japanese developer Taito has become famous for two things regarding its iOS catalogue: Scrolling shooters and dauntingly high price points.

It doesn't 'disappoint' on either front with its latest title Dariusburst: Second Prologue, which was launched on the App Store with a walloping great £7.49 / $10.99 price tag affixed to its wing.

We first heard whispers of bullet-dodging side-scroller Dariusburst: Second Prologue on iOS last month. We weren't sure at that point, mind, whether the game would be an entirely new proposition or a remake of the PSP original.

Well, it turns out it's the latter, though the dev has packed in a cargo hold of fresh content into this 2012 edition, including two bosses exclusive to this iOS iteration, a new single-player mode, and an extra player ship.

Taito's manic shooter also features a brand-new collection of space-age tunes to hum along to as you bob and weave your way through the ordnance.

You can download the Universal app Dariusburst: Second Prologue from the App Store this very minute. It's £7.49 / $10.99, remember.
