Danmaku Unlimited 3 is the third in a trilogy of bullet hell shooters. If you've played one before, you know the drill. Shoot a bunch of enemies in space while avoiding return fire.

There are five stages to play through, 25 different weapon customisation options, and some epic boss battles. It's not content shy, that's for sure.

We asked the App Army what they made of it, and here's what they had to say.

Laura Egri

Danmaku Unlimited 3 is good in short bursts. It's something that fills the time when you're queueing.

If you've ever played a score chaser shmup, you'll know what to expect here. There's absolutely nothing new. It's a vertical space shooter with your typical power ups to collect.

There are two modes of play, one for beginners (Spirit Mode) and the other for seasoned pros (Graze Mode). There are bonus stages too.

The graphics are very good with spectacular shooting effects, it handles smoothly, and it offers a certain satisfaction. But that's about it. It's just a time filler that's quite polished.

The graphics on this game are great with continuous laser bursts firing at the enemies as they come towards you. The music is frantic and suits the game very well.

I must admit it isn't a game I could play for long as it's nothing new, but it's a great time waster and well worth a go.

Danmaku Unlimited 3 comes from Sunny Tam, one of the premier bullet hell creators on the App Store. It was a full release on Steam and the transition here is flawless. After having played and enjoyed previous entries, Danmaku Unlimited continues to set the standard for the genre.

The visual style is just beautiful, with colors seamlessly popping all over the screen remaining silky smooth on my iPhone 7 Plus. Meanwhile, the soundtrack featuring indie rock by Blankfield adds energy to a highly intense game.

The controls are spot on, there's a tutorial, and there are numerous modes suited to beginners and experts. The stat tracking and leaderboards round out Danmaku Unlimited 3 making it the best of its kind. Highly recommended!

Steve Clarke

If frantically scrambling around the screen dodging bombs and bullets sounds like your kind of thing, then like all good wood sealants Danmaku Unlimited 3 does exactly what it says on the tin.

If you're not a fan of the genre then there’s nothing new here to recommend this to you but if you are then dive in and enjoy a great looking game with a rocking soundtrack that’s looking to kill you 100 different ways at once.
