Cooking Mama brings finger food to the iPhone

We were delighted to hear that Taito was turning its sights on the iPhone, after it recently brought the original and classic Space Invaders to the App Store. The out of the blue we’re also greeted with one of its best ever DS titles, Cooking Mama.

Taito insists this touchscreen and accelerometer driven version of its culinary classic has been optimised for Apple’s handset, and provides the full, kitchen quality excitement to the iPhone.

The Cooking Mama App Store page tells us it includes two game variations, though one of them kinda just sounds like a practice mode. Still, it all involves the expected vegetable chopping, meat kneading, stir frying and ingredient measure antics that made the DS and mobile versions so popular.

Already there's a few comments suggesting the game could do with more recipes, but given the easily updatable nature of the App Store, it’s not unreasonable to expect Taito to keep Cooking Mama’s cook book well stocked.

Hit the ‘Buy It!’ button to head on over to the App Store and check it out, then let us know what other Taito games you’d like to see in the comments section below.

Personally, I’m chalking up a vote for Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
