Eagle-eyed observers of the iOS App Store will have noticed a few trends emerging on Apple's mobile platform of late.

Freemium games, titles with in-app purchases, auto-running platformers, and physics-led puzzlers: not a day seems to go by without a new entry in these over-saturated fields popping up on the App Store.

And then there's the Rise of the Clone. Unscrupulous iPhone and iPad developers have been borrowing game ideas and concepts like they're going out of fashion recently. You can say these studios have been "inspired" by previous games, or you can call them "rip-offs" - it's up to you.
