Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution now free on iPhone

Earlier today, FreeAppADay announced that it would, “make a $6.99 HUGE application free on August 7th." And here it is: for a limited time, 2K Games's Civilization Revolution on iPhone will cost you nothing.

Also out for DS, 360, and PS3, Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is a sprawling contemporary take on the classic strategy series, tracking the journey of your civilization from 4000 BC to the present day and beyond.

Pocket Gamer's own Tracy Erickson was less than enthusiastic about the game, handing it six points out of ten and criticising its cluttered interface and poor touchscreen controls.

However, it's only fair to point out that it has an App Store rating of four stars, with 459 of the 999 raters giving it a perfect five. If you're a hardcore strategy gamer and fan of the series, in other words, the game's deficiencies probably won't phase you.
