It's almost exactly a year since Vivendi Games Mobile died, so perhaps it's rather fitting that it's suddenly been resurrected on iPhone with Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies, which just appeared out of nowhere on the App Store (thanks to Pocket Gamer reader Marlon for the tip).

Fans of the popular FPS series will undoubtedly recognise this unexpected slice of undead slaying from the Call of Duty: World at War map pack. This iPhone game focuses entirely on the Nacht der Untoten (Night of the Undead) map, in which you fight to survive in a barricaded bunker where the zombie Nazi outbreak began.

Alongside its great looking, gory 3D visuals, Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies also includes a local two player Bluetooth mode, or online four player support via wi-fi, allowing you to team up remotely (either privately or using the open matchmaking system) and go zombie hunting with friends (it doesn't work over 3G, by the way - wi-fi only).

The developer (who we assumed to be Activision) points out that Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies has been built with downloadable content in mind, promising new maps to keep your flesh-eater slaying experience fresh.

This is one of the few iPhone games weighing in at the full £5.99 price tag, but given the quality of the graphics and the online multiplayer, Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies certainly looks as though it earns its money.

We don't have an iPhone video for you yet, but here's the  original map pack trailer to give you an idea of what Zombies is all about. Hit the 'Buy It!' button to head on over to the App Store.
