Call of Duty Mobile set to add Black Ops II's fan-favourite Meltdown map
Time to reminisce
Call of Duty Mobile is adding another familiar map to its rotation. Meltdown, the popular battlezone from Call of Duty: Black Ops II, is making its grand debut on mobile.
Meltdown is set in and around a spacious power plant. You've got plenty of room to work with, allowing you to be a little more creative with your strategy.
Despite its size, there's a lot of cover to hide behind, balancing fast-paced engagements with opportunities for more defensive play.
It's also pretty easy on the eyes, being a fairly snazzy power plant. And sure, when you think of factories and plants, you don't think of charm, but the Meltdown map is nevertheless interesting to explore.
It helps that there's a ton of verticality to the map design, with plenty of vantage points to battle over and hold. This makes it a bit of a sniper's delight.
It's certainly not as compact as the Cage map, so you can perhaps expect some slightly lower scores and K/Ds.????Look familiar?
???? that's because... it is!
Get ready for a NEW classic Call of Duty map, Meltdown!
Coming soon to #CODMobile! pic.twitter.com/0oibSm7rR4 — Call of Duty: Mobile (@PlayCODMobile) March 15, 2020
Also, if it's the same as it was in Black Ops II, then you can expect the doughnut easter egg. Slight spoiler: In one of the buildings, there is a pink box of doughnuts that seems totally out of place. This is obviously a fun nod to Simpson's patriarch, Homer Simpson, who works in a power plant and enjoys his fair share of sweet treats.
There's no word on when the map will be available as it was teased with a "coming soon" post on Twitter. However, it wouldn't be surprising if it arrived later this month or early April.
That's simply speculation, but it seems like COD Mobile has been rolling out new content fairly quickly. If it's real soon, then get yourself prepared, solider.
Call of Duty Mobile is available right now over on Google Play and the App Store.
