Call of Duty Mobile: Three things to know about the Game of the Year nominee

Call of Duty Mobile is the bite-sized version of the always popular Call of Duty series. In mobile, you'll sometimes see ports of the console and PC games but this is its own entity with its own group of gamers and fans. Since its inception, it has quickly garnered well over one million downloads.
The game has also quickly (and rather quietly) become a pretty popular game in the esports world. Maybe not quite as big as the Call of Duty League or other mobile leagues like what Brawl Stars and Clash Royale have but it has been a very competitive scene with some great championship action.
The game is a nominee for Mobile Game of the Year at the 2020 The Game Awards and it's not surprising considering the popularity of the game (and the fact that it's very good). But if you're new to Call of Duty or just new to COD Mobile, here are a few things to know about the 2020 TGA Mobile Game of the Year candidate.
The Pacing is More Forgiving
If you've ever played Call of Duty for fun online, you know how hard it can be sometimes. You have so many players in the game who have loads of experience and make things look easy. Things can go very fast on console and PC that you don't know what hits you sometimes.
But Call of Duty Mobile is still a relatively new experience, even for the seasoned veteran. And the pacing is a tad slower on mobile so this makes things a bit more forgiving if you want to enjoy the COD experience without some of the frustrations.
You'll have the classic satisfaction of a good killstreak like on the PC/console games but in a slightly slower manner. The touch screen controls are excellent on the game as well and are quite intuitive overall. If you're new to Call of Duty, COD Mobile is a great entry-level game that is free and accessible.
Many Classic COD Maps are in the Game
One of the cool things about Call of Duty Mobile is some of the maps that are featured in the game. There are many returning favorites from other games in the series. If you're new to Call of Duty, this is a great way to experience some of the best maps in shooting game history for free.
Some of the most famous including Crash (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare), Nuketown (Call of Duty: Black Ops), and Rust (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2), There are several others in the game and then on top of this, they add new maps too.
The rich variety of maps in Call of Duty Mobile is one way that it stands out from other games in the iconic series. Sure, console COD games will bring back old maps too, but the blend on mobile is just about perfect, and it adds a nice, consistent change of pace during every match.
Consistent Updates
So, this is something you think you should expect. However, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty Warzone, and the new release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, some may think that most of the attention is going to those games.
But nope, Call of Duty Mobile still gets plenty of fresh updates throughout the year. From the usual new seasons to holiday events, the game offers different ways to keep things interesting. Recently, there is was a one-year anniversary event where you could win prizes.
A new area, called "The Club" was available for a limited time where you could play mini-games. And then of course you have your holiday-related themes whether it's for Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. And most of these events are free (unless you're buying access to Season Pass rewards of course).
