In a keynote short of interest or gaming announcements, there was one small crumb of comfort at WWDC.

With the news that Game Center is coming to Macs in the Mountain Lion version of OS X, the ability to play cross platform was demonstrated with a new game CSR Racing.

Let's go racing

Developed by UK studio NaturalMotion, there's not much information other than the demo played was a track-based game using what looked like tricked out street supercars.

The two players raced head-to-head using Game Center's forthcoming real-time multiplayer mode.

Of course, the game will be free-to-play as that's the model NaturalMotion has now adopted with great success on iOS in games such as My Horse - incidentally another title unveiled in a WWDC keynote, this time as a technology demo in 2010.

It's expected that more details about CSR Racing will emerge in the coming weeks.

We reckon it's likely to launch whenever the new iPhone running iOS 6 and its updated Game Center is released, in September or October.
