iOS retro remake Bounder’s World hits the App Store

Sheffield-based developer Gremlin Presents - a subsidiary of Urbanscan - has just released ball-based platformer Bounder’s World for iPhone and iPad.

Gremlin Presents is the reincarnation of successful 1980s and 1990s game developer Gremlin Interactive, which produced Premier Manager, Actua Soccer, and Monty Mole before being sold to Infogames in 1999.

Now Gremlin Interactive founder Ian Stewart has obtained the rights to all the old Gremlin IP for development at his new company, meaning new versions of the studio's commodore classics will be released by Gremlin Presents in due course.

Balls-to-the-wall

Bounder is an anthropomorphic tennis ball who first appeared on Amstrad home computers in the mid-'80s. Bounder’s World, is being billed as a 21st century re-imagining of the retro original.

The original managed to pick up a 97 per cent score and a Gold Medal award from Zzap! 64 Magazine and 9/10 from Your Sinclair back in 1986.

Bounder's World contains 144 levels of bouncy racing, four game modes, two player head-to-heads via Bluetooth, and Game Center integration.

It's available now for 69p/99c on iPhone £2.99/$4.99 for iPad.
