Boulder Dash-XL is on its way to iOS
Fortune favours the boulder
A port of the 1983 Atari Classic Boulder Dash is coming to iOS devices "soon" according to a press release reported by Joystiq.
The upcoming iOS game in question, Boulder Dash-XL, is more accurately a port of a game of the same name released on the Xbox Live Arcade in 2011 which came to the 3DS earlier this year.
Boulder Dash-XL plays exactly like the original Boulder Dash with better graphics, so the older gamers among us know that this means they'll once again be digging for gems in a cave while remaining un-crushed by lurking boulders.
A big digNews of this iOS port broke last year, but the game never materialized in the App Store or on Google Play. Now, it is confirmed that that First Star Software and HeroCraft will co-produce the iOS version of the game.
Similar to the XBLA version, Boulder Dash-XL features five game modes and 100 levels spread across four game worlds. Players will have two playable characters to choose from - including the original Rockford and the newcomer Crystal.
While there is no firm release date past "soon", HeroCraft announced that Boulder Dash-XL will cost £1.99 / $2.99 when it is released for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
