It looks like Gearbox is about to announce that its acclaimed shoot-and-loot FPS franchise
Borderlands is going mobile.
An advert pulled from the
Borderlands 2 digital guide makes reference to an October release date for
Borderlands Legends, a new game in the series "specifically designed for mobile and tablet".
According to the ad (below), this game will focus on the four characters from the the original
Borderlands (Mordecai, Lilith, Brick, and Roland), who will have to tackle waves of enemies over randomised missions.

Of course, this is still a
Borderlands title, so there will be "thousands" of different weapons to collect, and a total of 36 character skills and powers to upgrade and amplify.
Though Gearbox has remained tight-lipped about an iOS
Borderlands adventure, company president Randy Pitchford has gone on record saying that
he'd love to see a PS Vita version of the game.
We're hoping for an official announcement of
Borderlands Legends sometime this week. We'll keep you posted.

This will be stripped down indeed. But I love all things Borderlands so I say bring it on! Hopefully it comes to Android.

This will probably be a very, very stripped down version of the game. In any case, I hope it comes to Android as well.

A Vita version of the game would probably make me buy a Vita.
It would be nice to also have a Borderlands 2 companion app on tablet. Something that had maps, loot tables, character stat builder and stuff like that. If it linked with the game and the Shift account too that would be awesome (it's a bit of a faff having to enter those golden key codes on the PS3!)
