App Army Assemble: Bobblehead Boxing

How does it compare to Wrassling?

If you can't get enough of Wrassling but want something a little different, Bobblehead Boxing might just be the game for you.

It follows a similar gameplay principle to Wrassling, forcing you to rely on wacky physics to beat down your opponent. Where it differs though, is on its focus on punching fools rather than grappling and throwing them.

That's great, you say, but is it any good? Well, at review we described it as a: "one note fighter that's a little more fun if you invite some friends round, but not that much more fun".

This is just the opinion of one man though. So if you'd like a second, third, and so on opinion, read on to learn more about what our hardened bunch of mobile gaming fanatics in the App Army thought.

Chase Geier

This is similar to Soccer Physics, except there's absolutely no skill involved. You just have to button mash and hope you win.

It's good looking, but that's the only positive you can say about it.

Tom Clark

I got a huge chuckle out of this. The retro graphics are okay and the gameplay is, at first glance, like a cross between the old water ring toss games and rock-em-sockem robots.

The problem is, you don't feel like you're in much control of the experience. You're just mashing the punch button. It's good for a quick laugh, but the lack of strategy means it gets boring pretty fast.

Kainen Ryan

I remember when I once said that a game I was playing was the worst game I've ever played. Well, after playing Bobblehead Boxing I can see I was wrong.

I mean what is this? It is boring, ugly, and devoid of humour. If it just had a bit more skill involved it would be better, but there's just one button to hammer away at. It's not enough.

Sjoerd de Jong

I wasn't really impressed by this. As others have said, it's just a button masher with no strategy whatsoever. The single player is quite dull, but I can see it being fun as a party game. The four player mode is more fun though, as there's a bit more going on.

You can remove the ads for $4.99, which is a bit much for a game like this. I would suggest making people weaker when you hit them, so it's easier to knock them out of the arena.

Erik Choong

This game was surprisingly bad - it's nothing but button mashing. Perfect for parties but it won't last long because there's no replay value. Even Dunkers had a bit more depth than this.

Oksana Ryan

Bobblehead Boxing is repetitive and requires more luck than skill to succeed. You can play against up to three opponents in a standard type boxing ring and progress to a sumo ring - there may be more formats but I lost interest.

There needs to be more skill involved and you need more control over the punching and movement. There's just not enough substance to keep me playing.

Laura Egri

It's a great idea but the execution isn't so good. It's basically a one tap fighter that would have been ideal for passing the time if it wasn't so simple.

The design is really nice and funny - kind of like retro meets cardboard - but the gameplay is repetitive, and there isn't much content to keep you going.

Swapnil Jadhav

This is not a finished product, as there's so little to it. The only positive is the retro graphics as there's just no skill involved. It's a little more fun in multiplayer though.

John Newman

I think this is an interesting start to a game, but it doesn't have everything it needs for me to love it.

It's a game I could have some fun with in multiplayer, but there isn't a lot of progression or reward for winning. Some unlockables would make this a better experience.
