Squeelings by Shovelware Games wins The Big Indie Pitch at E3 2017

Squee, indeed

Product: Big Indie Pitch | Manufacturer: Steel Media Ltd

Yesterday Pocket Gamer held another epic Big Indie Pitch, this time at E3 in Los Angeles. Of course, not matter the quality of participants there can only be one winner, and the master of mobile games is... *drum roll*

Squeelings by San Diego-based Shovelware Games.

Squeelings is a brightly coloured puzzler all about spreading happiness. A squeeling usually lives in a big group, cuddled up together to keep warm while looking absolutely adorable. However, with sad and grumpy squeelings also in play it's up to you to figuring out the best hugging strategy to cheer them up.

You'll have plenty of time to hug them, however, as you'll have 300 levels to get through. Don't worry, the game may look fluffy and cute but it won't baby you through any of the stages. You'd best come with your solving brain dialed up to 20.

In a totally unexpected manner, the game was inspired by E. McNeill's VR cyberpunk hacking game, Darknet, after he realised the puzzle mechanic would work well on mobile. After working with other industry talents, Squeelings was born to shed a little happiness on these dark, dark times.

Though there's no release date just yet, Squeelings will be coming to iOS and Android in summer/autumn 2017, free-to-play.
