Big Hit Baseball from Square Enix coming to iPhone

Square Enix seems to have gone crazy for bat and ball games on the iPhone. The upcoming release of Big Hit Baseball will be its second sports title in nearly as many months.

Developed by Square Enix’s Beautiful Game Studios, Big Hit Baseball bears a striking resemblance to its last sports title, Big Cup Cricket (released in December 2010). The cartoony visuals, pick-up and play sensibility and simple touchscreen controls all look much the same, with even the names sounding similar.

Aiming to offer up a addictive arcade experience rather than a sprawling sports simulation, the game still boasts three different cup tournaments and twenty teams from America and Japan.

Game Centre and Facebook compatibility round off the package. A definite release date for Big Hit Baseball is expected to be announced in a few weeks, with pricing to be confirmed soon.
