Musical exploration game Beatbuddy is coming to iPhone and iPad in September, says Hamburg-based studio THREAKS.

The game has you guiding Beatbuddy though stages that move and morph to the rhythm of that level's unique backing track.

You'll have to swim and attack to the beat to defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and bypass obstacles that shift with clockwork choreography.

Each hand-drawn world has a new song, composed by artists like Parov Stelar, Austin Wintory (Journey), Sabrepulse, and the La Rochelle Band.

What's more, the game will get free monthly DLC featuring new songs. You can then purchase that music on iTunes from right within the game. THREAKS says this is the first game to let you do that.

We first saw this creative and charming PC port at Pocket Gamer Connects in Helsinki, where we described it as a mash-up of Beat Sneak Bandit and Aquaria.
