 IPHONE NEWS - NEW RELEASE

New iOS and Android games out this week - Battleheart 2, New Star Soccer Manager, Earth Atlantis, and more

Choices, choices...

Summary News Review Screens Videos Articles Tips
Product: Battleheart 2 | Publisher: Mika Mobile | Genre: RPG
For: iPhone   Also on: Android, iPad

Another week, another set of games to play, another difficult decision to make. I mean, I can't afford all of these games and I don't have space for them, so which ones should I knuckle down with this weekend?

If you're sick to the teeth of free to play games, you won't be disappointed this time, folks, as the premium scene is pretty plentiful.

From games we've been waiting ages for, to games we'd never even heard of until they suddenly popped up in this here line-up, it's a great time to be a mobile gamer.

#1 Battleheart 2

  • Platform: iOS
  • Price: £3.99/$3.99
We know, it feels like years that we've been waiting for a Battleheart sequel. Well, it has been years, but now it's here on iOS and life is good.
Slay hordes of enemies in this fast-paced, real-time battler and grow more and more powerful with every win. Of course, with great power comes even greater enemies, so be prepared to fight like a hero from the beginning to the very end.

#2 Cthulhu Chronicles

  • Platform: iOS
  • Price: F2P
Experience Chaosium's award-winning RPG, Call of Cthulhu on mobile with this slick interactive faction game. Make your way through Arkham City (not that Arkham) and play through different stories as an investigator.
Simple as that sounds, it's going to be tricky keeping hold of your sanity in times such as these.

#3 Dereliction

  • Platform: iOS
  • Price: £3.99/$3.99
This squad-based, real-time strategy game won't be a walk in the park - or, er, spaceship in this case. You need to lead your team of mercenaries through multiple different battles in order to reclaim an alien-infested ship.
Sounds easy right? Maybe... in opposite land. You've got to deploy the right tactics to get your squad through hordes of enemies in one piece and rescue survivors as you go.

#4 Earth Atlantis

After the great climate shift struck at the end of the 21st century, 96% of the earth's surface has been flooded, machines have evolved into the shape of marine animals, and humanity has fallen. You play as a Hunter in this side-scrolling shooter and pretty much everything's out to get you.

#5 The Eyes of Ara

  • Platform: iOS
  • Price: £4.99/$4.99
Calling all fans of The Room, House of Da Vinci, and other 3D puzzlers, you'll probably rather enjoy this one.
Explore an ancient castle and discover all of its secrets. Hidden within its walls are cellars, passageways, vaults, sneaky rooms, and maybe you'll even come across some lost treasure.
After the castle lay dormant for so long, a mysterious signal started broadcasting from the structure. It's up to you to explore its halls and find out what's going on.

#6 Fighting Fantasy Legends Portal

Head off on your own adventure in FFL Portal and experience another excellent dice-throwing, narrative RPG.
The game includes three classic gamebooks by Ian Livingstone: Death Trap Dungeon, Trial of Champions, and Armies of Death. Throughout each you'll need to power up your skills, roll dice, make tricky decisions, and keep an eye out for even more adventures in the future.
The magical James Gilmour also streamed the game a couple of days back which you can watch below or right here.

#7 FRACTER

Traverse a series of isometric labyrinths in Fracter's realm of shadows on a quest to restore light back into a darkened world. Ahead of you are head-scratching puzzles and curious monsters, and you've only got the power of light to aid you so use it wisely.
Its controls can be a little shaky at times, but you're going to be a little creeped out on this curious journey of reflection (in a good way).

#8 Idle Apocalypse

Run a cult, summon demons, controls your very own horde of monsters, destroy the world, and much more in this apocalypse simulator. Even if you've never been convinced on the idea of bringing an end to the world as we know it, there's no harm in giving it a go, eh?
All you need to do is build a tower that reaches high into the sky, tap to summon minions, cast spells at the heroes trying to stop you, and invite the legendary Idols (a group of gods you wouldn't want to get on the bad side of) to pop over for a spot of terror and torment.

#9 MagiCats Builder

If you find the whole idea of platformers a little too predictable, then maybe you'll be down to play MagiCats Builder. In this platformer you literally build your own entertainment. I guess if you don't enjoy the levels, you've only yourself to blame.
Just to get into the community spirit, you can also share and play other people's builds, and if you feel strongly about something in-game you can feedback to the developer on their Discord.

#10 New Star Soccer Manager

If you've been with Pocket Gamer for a while, you'll know that we don't dish out Platinum Awards willy-nilly. No, this soccer management game drew Harry in so much that he sank about 79 hours into it, so take that as you will.
Take control of a struggling soccer club that needs you help to get it back to top form. Manage the club's facilities, choose your perfect sponsors, deal with off-pitch drama, and much more.

#11 Room Racer AR

  • Platform: iOS
  • Price: £1.99/$1.99
I'm pretty sure you can guess what the game entails with a title like that. Yes, it's a room racer. Yes, it's in AR. Yes, it looks like rather good arcade fun.
Race around a variety of tracks in the comfort or your own living room (or wherever you want to be) and go up against a bot or a pal in multiplayer mode.

#12 SSR - Super Speed Runner

Pop on your speedy shoes and ready you trigger-happy thumbs, because this is a game of speed you'll need to be on top-form to beat.
This brutally hard platformer has some rather unique mechanics, allowing you to speed up, slow down, jump, and escape through tons of tricky levels. Do you have the dexterity to beat it? We'll see...

#13 Trade Island

Trade Island is a Tycoon-style game where you try and break into the big league on a tropical island. To get rich you'll have to build stuff, farm stuff, sell stuff, and trade stuff to become a successful business person.

#14 Trism 2

  • Platform: iOS
  • Price: £2.99/$2.99
It feels right that Trism 2 should launch on iOS this week. Since the original Trism was one of the mac daddy games of the App Store ten years ago, why not celebrate the App Store's birthday with a follow up?
In the description's own words: "TRISM 2 boasts a fully interactive open world, deep narrative storyline, branching subquests, multiple endings, and episodic content."

#15 The Walking Dead: Our World

We're one step closer to the zombie-killing action with Our World. This AR game lets you fight Walkers (almost) IRL, explore the ruined world around you, and take part in weekly challenges. You might even meet some familiar faces... if you don't get yours chewed off.

#16 Yuso

Clear the screen of Yuso in this quirky puzzler, but don't get too comfortable. The further you get into the game, the harder it'll be.
Play as a space doctor and travel from planet to planet across the Solar System. Meet colourful characters along the way, complete a variety of stages, and enjoy the game's open progression system - perfect for putting a pin in those ultra-tricky levels.
