NaturalMotion's BackBreaker Football sacks 1.5 million sales

99c game also has piracy rate of less than 1%

NaturalMotion's BackBreaker Football sacks 1.5 million sales

Initially created as a marketing scheme for the company's forthcoming console title, NaturalMotion's excellent BackBreaker Football iPhone game has dived over the touchdown line, crashing through 1.5 million downloads.

As per usual, there's no breakdown in terms of a paid versus free split, but as the game only costs 99c, I'd assume it will be better than the usual 10:90 ratio.

//additional note:
While NaturalMotion said it couldn't comment on the exact split, it told PocketGamer that 'the proportion of paid is several times more than the usually cited industry average'.

More significantly though, NaturalMotion also points out, it's experienced very low piracy rates - around 1 percent is claimed, which is much lower than the 75 percent often banded around.

"Backbreaker Football has been a phenomenal success on iPhone and iPod touch, with sales wildly exceeding our initial forecasts," said Torsten Reil, NaturalMotion's CEO.

"We've been extremely pleased with how people have taken to the title and look forward to making more game announcements in the near future."

BackBreaker Football is out now, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p.
