Avoid. - Hard to type and hard to play

| Avoid.

Avoid. might have a name that's slightly annoying to type, but as quick-fire arcade score chasers gi, it's up there among the best.

It's got a minimalist look that makes everything easy to see and understand, and while it's unlikely to make its way onto game of the year lists, it's still a brilliant way to eat up a chunk of your less precious time.

Don't avoid it

You control everything by dragging a finger around on the bottom of the screen. The movements of your fingers are recreated by a rag doll man in the top half of the screen.

The aim of the game is to weave that rag doll through four spinning saws. They're speeding up all the time, and there are dots to collect to make sure you keep on the move.

Hourglass power-ups let you slow down time, and you can get hit a few times by the saws until it's game over, your score is totted up and you're left to tap the retry button.

The chances you have left are represented by the limbs that are still attached to the rag doll. Lose too many of these and he'll expire, slumping with an ungainly flop to the bottom of the screen.

There's a sweet hit of arcade goodness here, and it soaks through everything, from the quick gameplay to the speed you can restart the game when you've been sliced into ribbons.

Well, avoid some of it

Avoid. is a great way to capture a fast and engaging chunk of gaming on the go. It's bright and charming, and it has the chops to suck you in for a surprisingly long time.

At its heart it's a high-score chaser, and it doesn't try to be anything other than that. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but what it does, it does really, really well.

It's hard to type and hard to play, but Avoid. rewards perseverance in the best way
