iPhone emulator fanatic Manomio, which is responsible for the Commodore 64 app and just showed off an Amiga 500 emulator on the iPhone, has yet another classic piece of hardware up its sleeve: the Atari 2600.

The YouTube video "Atari 2600 for iPhone Tech Demo" (embedded below) shows Space Invaders, Berserk, and Frogger running on Apple's smartphone, and is controlled through a virtual controller that appears onscreen when you touch it.

Stuart Carnie, CTO of Manomio, told Pocket Gamer, "We've been in communication with Atari in an attempt to license the Atari 2600."

If it does materialise, it'll probably be presented akin to the Commodore 64 app: a free or cheap base download, with in-app purchases to buy individual games separately.
