Can you play Asphalt 9: Legends offline?

You ask, we answer
Product: Asphalt 9 | Publisher: Gameloft | Format: Android, iPhone, iPad | Genre: Arcade, Multiplayer, Racing

Asphalt 9: Legends launched recently, and while we thought we'd managed to answer everyone's questions on the quality of the game in our 9/10 review, a question is hanging on some people's lips – can you play it offline?

The short answer is: no. Try to play Asphalt 9: Legends without an internet connection and you'll be met by the following screen when you boot the game up.

Asphalt 9 Legends Connection Error Screen

It reads, "No Internet connection available. Please make sure your device is connected to the Internet", for those of you who can't see the picture for whatever reason.

Yes, unfortunately you will need to connect to the Internet either via WiFi or 3G to enjoy the fast-paced racing that Asphalt 9 has to offer. And as stated before, we heartily recommend that you do.

For one thing, you'll be missing out on the new TouchDrive system, a steering mechanic that has left a bitter taste in some fans' mouths, but something we at Pocket Gamer actually love.
