Gameloft has just released an update for the latest in its highly successful street-racing series, Asphalt 5, that adds the sought-after support for the iPhone 4’s Retina display along with a number of other handy features.

Along with the improved graphical fidelity the Retina display offers, the update also adds support for using the gyroscope to control the car, which seems a little odd to me as it’s not the natural motion for steering.

What isn’t odd though is the inclusion of multi-tasking support for iOS4, so now you can finally live out those fantasies of talking on your mobile while driving a car without the risk of being pulled over for dangerous driving.

Asphalt 5 is available on the App Store for £2.99 / $4.99.
