Earlier today in an interview with our sister site, PocketGamer.biz, it was revealed that Asmodee Digital has some rather big plans for the next year across mobile, console, and PC. If you've played a digital board game on mobile, it's likely Asmodee either brought it to iOS and Android or picked up the reins.

It's no secret that Pocket Gamer has a rather special relationship with Asmodee Digital. As well as supporting our fantastic board game section, TableTap, the publisher is also an ongoing presence in our regular streams over on Twitch.

As noted on our sister site, PocketGamer.biz, during an interview with Asmodee's Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, Phillippe Dao, there's still plenty to come in 2018. Aside from the excellent board game Carcassonne coming to Nintendo Switch, we've also got Ticket to Ride coming to PS4 PlayLink (where you'll use your phone as a controller).

If Ticket to Ride proves successful on PlayLink, it could open up a new direction for digital board games - especially those with cards in them.

As is touched upon in the interview, using your own phones as controllers when playing with a party allows you to hide your cards from other players, making things a little truer to the original games.

I imagine games like Uno, Cards Against Humanity, Exploding Kittens, and the like would also make excellent additions for an evening in with pals. Though, given Asmodee's change in its editorial policy, we'll definitely be getting more adaptions inspired by famous board game IPs.
