Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator sets a course for iPhone and iPad

Helmsman: set a bearing of 710 degrees, warp 3. Ultra-geeky spaceship simulator Artemis is heading to iOS devices in the near future. Engage!

Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator is an ambitious indie game for PC where six players link up laptops and have a go at being commanders on a starship bridge. It's basically Star Trek in everything but name.

There's a helmsman, a weapons guru, communications support, and various other roles. And then there's the captain who issues commands and keeps everything in order. Work together and you'll explore the galaxy. Mess up and your starship explodes.

Getting six computers in one room is about as tricky as making the Kessel Run in fewer than twelve parsecs, so it's handy that the game is on its way to iPhone and iPad.

On its way very soon, that is. Over on the game's Facebook page, the development team says that Max Gaming has almost finished up the port - "we've got it pretty much done, and just working out the bugs."

The iPad and iPhone version of Artemis will be the same, though the UI has been tweaked for the phone's smaller screen. "For each console, the UI has been broken into several sub-screens, that can be accessed by sliding left or right with two fingers."

Other features include being able to use the iOS device as a server, and connecting the iOS version to a PC game if you're running low on laptops. We'll give you a poke when the game hits the App Store.
