[Updated] Apple seeks to ban the Samsung Galaxy S II in the US
|
Updated on August 29th, at 9:00: A judge has set a December 6th court date for Apple to request permanent injunctions against these Samsung phones.

Following Apple's $1 billion landmark victory against Samsung in its long-running patent dispute case, the iPhone manufacturer has filed a notice demanding that eight of its rival's handsets be banned in the US.

The legal document filed by Apple requests a preliminary injunction for the following smartphones: the Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy S II (AT&T), Galaxy S II (Skyrocket), Galaxy S II (T-Mobile), Galaxy S II Epic 4G, Galaxy S Showcase, Droid Charge, and the Galaxy Prevail.

If the ban is to be made law, Apple must convince Judge Lucy Koh that it has suffered "irreparable injury" from the sale of the above handsets.

Galaxy at war

Last week, Samsung was ordered to pay Apple $1.049 billion in damages for infringing a number of patents and trademarks pertaining to the design of the iPhone and the functionality of its iOS operating system.

Should the judge choose to uphold the Cupertino company's ban request, many believe that Samsung's flagship Galaxy S III device could be added to the blacklist.
