Get paid 50c for reviewing shoot em up Goku Flight via AppRebates

With so many games freely available, either in terms of a Lite version or as part of a limited price promotion, the fact you can get cute shoot em up Goku Flight for free normally wouldn't make headlines.

The reason it does this time is it's the first game to be made free as part of the AppRebates website, and they'll pay you for reviewing it.

Promotional buzz

As the name suggests, AppRebates is a system by which developers can drive downloads of their games and apps by getting you to buy their game.

You have 48 hours to play and review the game or app in question, then the system will automatically detect your review - you provide them with your iTunes review name - and credit your account within AppRebates with the cash you originally paid.

It doesn't matter whether your review is positive or negative, although you're advised to "avoid profanity or indecent comments as your review will be removed by Apple. In this event, our system will be unable to verify your download and you will not be reimbursed".

In the case of Goku Flight (price $1.99), you'll also get a 50c bonus.

You can withdraw the cash you've collected either via a PayPal transfer or an iTunes gift card ($15 minimum).

Work the pump

Of course, you might think this is all a bit complicated, but as and when more games and apps become available via the service, it could work well, especially in terms of people earning small amount of extra cash thanks to those bonuses.

Anyhow, it's early days for AppRebates, which only has five apps alongside Goku Flight currently available, but it's certainly something we'll keep our eye on, especially over the next 48 hours because I want to make sure I'm credited with my $2.49.

//Update
And indeed my account has just been so credited - around 2 hours after writing my review.

In addition, I'm told you can earn $1 for each friend you refer to AppRebates that writes a review.

You can find out more at AppRebates.
