Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, and Cut the Rope among App Store's all-time best-selling apps

Pocket Gamer has spent the morning trawling the App Store for five different apps that have - for one reason or another - defined Apple's über-popular digital emporium since it was launched on this day five years ago.

Apple, on the other hand, has decided to highlight some of the best-selling and most-popular iPhone and iPad apps of the past half decade.

Unsurprisingly, physics-puzzler Angry Birds sits proudly at the top of the Cupertino company's 'best selling paid iPhone apps' chart.

Colourful slash-'em-up Fruit Ninja, addictive bouncer Doodle Jump, ZeptoLab's Cut the Rope, and Angry Birds Seasons follow closely behind in respective order.

Away from the iPhone, Angry Birds HD, Angry Birds Seasons HD, and Angry Birds Space HD all ranked in the top ten of the 'best selling paid iPad apps' chart.

So to did Disney's excellent Where's My Water? and Zynga's very social Words With Friends.

Slightly disappointingly, only Words With Friends Free, Temple Run, Angry Birds HD Free, Fruit Ninja HD Free, and Words With Friends HD Free made Apple's 'most popular free iPhone apps' and 'most popular free iPad apps' charts.
