Gamevil has published a new free to play online shooter called Afterpulse for iOS.

The appeal here is clearly meant to be the graphics. Afterpulse has been Metal API and full 64-bit support.

Special attention has also been given to " true-to-life movements and photorealistic lighting, shadows, smoke and crossfire."

Developer Digital Legends also says that it has put the lessons of four generations of iOS shooters into practice with Afterpulse.

Hence it has "enhanced" online matchmaking that uses zone server technology. In other words, you should be matched up pretty well and quickly, hopefully.

On offer are free-for-all battles and eight player Team Deathmatch. There's also a Training Mode if you need to brush up on your skills.

Everything else is as you'd expect from a modern military shooter, really. There's a range of different guns, including Veteran Series weapons for high ranks, and you can customise your soldier's look.

Microtransactions are aplenty, as expected, with gold being available for real money.

If you start playing before October 29th you'll get 250 Gold and a 4-star iOS-exclusive Elite Operator Cap that provides increased protection against SMGs.

Download Afterpulse over on the App Store.
