44 challenges you to collect all 44 of its keys with just one life
Checkpoints are for the weak
Singapore-based solo game developer Karta Sutanto of Unplug has released 44 onto iOS.
The name 44 references the 44 keys you have to collect around the game's 2D maze. You tilt to move and tap to jump in order to dodge spikes, moving hazards, and some harder surprises.
That doesn't sound too hard until you find out you only get one life.
Yep, just like Phases: Infinity Zero, 44 resets you back to the beginning if you die. It begs a question: what happens if you collect all of the keys? You may never find out.
You will, at least, get a place on the Game Center leaderboards each time you outdo your previous record. It might be a good idea to invite your friends to play and compete with each other.
You can download 44 for free on the App Store right now. It is supported by adverts that appear once you die - just in case you need another incentive to not screw up.
