  • Take a good look at the preview of the track you're given when you're setting up your race. Quite fairly, 2XL doesn't allow you to cut the course, but because parts of it are in such close proximity and there are no barriers, you can do so purely by accident if you don't know the course. This results in you being plonked back on the right path, but can lose you a place or two as a result.
  • It's perfectly possible to nudge your rivals into trouble, causing them to fly off their bikes and, naturally, slip to the back of the pack. If you're worried about the ethics of doing as such, then don't. In tight knit races you'll quite often find yourself pushed to the side, face down in the mud, so don't be afraid to fight back.
  • Though easier said than done, try to approach the jumps dead on. Flying off them at an angle can lead to you ploughing off course or, even worse, straight into some of the track furniture.
