This year's World Cup is starting rather early as EA Mobile has announced that
2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will be released for iPhone and iPod touch next month.
During an event at GDC showcasing the EA Sports spring and summer line up, the game was playable.
Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to share any details about it until closer to its release, which has been set for April 27 alongside the console versions.
I can, however, tease you with the fact that I've had a thorough hands-on with the game.
One thing I am able to share with you is that the game is set in South Africa. Big news, I know.
Needless to say, it's hard not to share details on what looks to be one of next month's major releases, but you'll have to wait a couple more weeks to learn more.
No price has been announced, though given the £5.99/$9.99 tag on
FIFA 10 last year I expect a similar price for this new instalment.
2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will be available for iPhone and iPod touch on April 27.

This will just be a repackaged Fifa 10 rather than a brand new game, probably one of the most pointless releases we'll get on the iPhone this year. EA do it everytime on the consoles when it comes to World Cup year, I won't forget the cheek of them releasing Fifa 98, Road to the World Cup 98 and World Cup 98 in the space of one football season, scarred me as a child lol
