Lili developer launches endless runner (THRED) to help fight AIDS
The best £149.99 you'll spend all year
BitMonster Studios has had a good year. First, it launched the seriously stunning adventure Lili on iPad and iPhone. Now it's back with (THRED).
The developer has teamed up with Coca-Cola to produce an endless runner with a noble twist.
The game itself is fairly straight-forward - drag your little craft around the screen as it rushes through a winding tunnel, avoiding rocks and collecting bubbles. It's set to a pounding techno soundtrack contributed by the likes of Tiësto, DJ Poet, and TOKiMONSTA.
But the really interesting point lies in the game's true purpose. It's free to play, but any funds collected from in-app purchases will go to (RED), a charity set-up to help with the fight against AIDS.
The developer is drawing attention to a very specific type of medication that, when given to an expecting mother who has contracted the HIV virus, will give her child a 98 per cent chance of being born without the virus.
Not only will 100 per cent of the funds from (THRED) go towards this worthy cause, but there's a special in-app purchase worth £144.99 / $209.99. This amount has been calculated to cover one infected mother for anti-viral drugs for the entirety of her pregnancy and feeding term.
(THRED) is out now for iPhone and iPad, and is well worth a play - even without the massive incentive of supporting the fight against AIDS.
