O2 may have lost its iPhone exclusivity deal in the UK, but the operator is clearly not in the mood to play nicely with the other kids.

For one thing, the company has cut the price of its cheapest iPhone deal from £30 per month to £25 per month, which will get you 100 minutes and unlimited texts and data. At the other end of the contract spectrum the savings are even greater, with O2’s premium iPhone plan dropping from £60 to £45 per month.

The company has also launched a range of aggressively priced SIM-only contract deals for existing owners of the Apple handset. The entry point is a very tempting 12 month contract, which bags you 300 minutes, unlimited UK texts, data, and wi-fi for just £15 per month. Alternatively, the 30-day rolling contracts start from £20 per month.

That’s not all the iPhone news from O2, though. The company will also be offering an internet tethering package for £2 per day.

"We know our iPhone customers want to snack when they are using their iPhone as a modem” said Sally Cowdry, O2 marketing director. “We have always been the home for texts and now want to extend that to being home for data."
